UNDERWATER TREASURE
HUNT JULY, 2009 10:00 am Burtchville Twp. Park
This will be Dive Inn's 5th annual TREASURE HUNT to benefit BLUE WATER HOSPICE.
This has always been a fun event and one we look forward to. All the money raised
goes to Hospice to provide care to families in need, caregiver support programs and grief
support services. Blue Water Hospice is a non-profit organization that provides
support and comfort care to those who are terminally ill. They also have introduced
a Palliative Care Program for those who are seeking agressive treatment but need help with
pain or activities of daily living. We couldn't put this event on without the help of Michigan Lake Divers Association who provide hot dogs, hamburgers and all the fixings. All
this and the chance to win a fabulous prize can be yours! We'll be taking
registrations beginning April, 2009. Chances are $20/ball.
****THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE TREASURE HUNT HELD THIS YEAR.
TOGETHER WE RAISED OVER $1700 FOR BLUEWATER HOSPICE. IT WAS GREAT FUN!****

BONNE TERRE MINE TRIP
TBA
$350.00 p.p. (Includes 4 guided dives, 2 nights lodging and tank rental)
This is a fantastic experience for beginners and advanced divers alike. Located
just 60 miles south of St. Louis, Bonne Terre has drawn divers from around the world,
including Capt. Jacques-Yves Cousteau and the crew of the Calypso. Lead was mined in
Bonne Terre up till 1961, when the pumps that kept the mine dry were turned off.
Bonne Terre Mine slowly filled with pure, crystalline water that filtered through the
surrounding rock. What had been the world's largest lead mine became the world's
largest underground lake. Visibility exceeds 100 feet, and since it was cheaper to
leave much of the old equipment behind rather than haul it out, divers can see the
original one-ton ore cars, old steam engine, and the door of the timekeeper's shed, where
the miners punched in and out. Inside the mine the air temperature is 63'F
year-round. Water temps in the underground lake are 58'F year-round. No lights
are needed as more than 500,000 watts of lighting illuminate the 24 guided trails.
Lodging is plentiful - whether you prefer the divers lodge on premises or the 1909
Depot or Mansion Hill Inn - there is something in your price range.
